The Manimahesh Yatra 2026 in Chamba district will be held from 4 September 2026 to 19 September 2026. The information has been published by the District Administration Chamba, Government of Himachal Pradesh.
Registration for yatra is mandatory. Pilgrims are advised to get themselves registered before reaching Bharmour and carry the printout of the registration acknowledgment with them during the journey.

Manimahesh Yatra Registration for 2026
Before coming to Bharmour, pilgrims have to register. The administration has advised people to complete the process well in advance in view of weak mobile network and internet connectivity in the Bharmour region.
One mobile number can be used to submit an application for a maximum of five persons.
You should print the registration acknowledgment and carry it while proceeding with yatra. The district administration has identified BSNL, Jio and Airtel as the preferred telecom operators in Bharmour region.

Health Check-Up at Hudsar
Health Check-up Required at Base Camp Hudsar. Administration said whoever found sick in the medical check-up would not be allowed to start the journey.
Pilgrims have also been asked to carry medical certificate and travel only if they are physically fit.
The persons who are medically unwell and above 75 years of age will not be allowed the journey as per the official directions. Women pregnant more than six weeks are also advised not to travel.

Route to Manimahesh Lake
The easiest way to Manimahesh from Chamba is through Bharmour.
Busses ply to Hadsar via Bharmour. Pilgrims have to trek around 13 kilometers from Hadsar to reach Manimahesh.
Dhancho is an important stop along the way. Pilgrims often make a stop there on their way.
The District Chamba official website also mentions Gauri Kund and Shiva Krotri which are situated at a distance of about one and half kilometer before the Manimahesh Lake.
Things to Carry for the Yatra
The district administration has asked the pilgrims to carry the following items.

- Warm shoes
- Torch
- Walking stick
The pilgrims have been asked to wear proper shoes instead of slippers and follow the routes prescribed by the administration. If you have a health problem during the journey, you should contact the nearest camp.
Rules for Manimahesh Yatra
The administration has also fixed timings to start the journey from Base Camp Hudsar. Pilgrims should not start their journey before 4:00 AM or after 4:00 PM.
Other directions are:
- Don’t go by yourself.
- No shortcuts.
- Don’t wear slippery shoes.
- Do not climb with force when you face difficulty.
- No plastic bottles or wrappers on the route.
- Please use the dustbins provided on the route.
- Do not hurt rare herbs or plants.
- Avoid activities that pollute the environment.
- Avoid using plastic.
- Carry an identity card while traveling.
- PUTTING DONATIONS OR OFFERINGS IN THE TRUST DONATION BOX.
Pilgrims have also been asked by the administration not to consume meat, alcohol or intoxicants during the religious journey.
What to Do During Bad Weather
The weather on the Manimahesh route can change very rapidly. Pilgrims have been advised not to continue with the trek if the weather turns bad and to halt at a safe place.
Dhancho, Sundarasi, Gaurikund and Dal Lake are mentioned in the official directions as places where pilgrims can take shelter between Hadsar and Dal Lake.
- Do not proceed with the trip until the weather improves.
Manimahesh Lake and the Yatra
The Manimahesh Lake is approximately 26 km from Bharmour in Budhil valley. The lake is close to 13,000 feet, below the Kailash Peak.
Pilgrims from various parts gather at Manimahesh Lake for the annual fair. The fair and yatra are believed to be of Lord Shiva’s patron deity.
